The Royal Oak's main building is over 400 years old and was originally a house, it then become a pub with a small tap room, from which it gradually developed into the pub it is today. It is a family run Inn rather than a hotel and believe 'Its very much a locals pub but visitors are made very welcome'. The Royal Oak sponsors the, Windermere Rugby Team, providing the after match food and the full kit.
