The Bear is one of England's original 13th Century Coaching Inns located in the picturesque town of Woodstock. The town is home to Blenheim Palace as well as many fine boutiques and antique shops. Woodstock is also at the gateway to the Cotswolds, close to Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon. With its ivy clad façade, oak beams, stonewalls and open fire, the Bear exudes warmth and cosiness.
Queen Anne bestowed the Royal Manor of Woodstock in 1704 to John, the first Duke of Marlborough as a token of the country's gratitude for his victories over the French. Here Vanbrugh built the magnificent Blenheim Palace for the Duke and his Duchess, and Capability Brown created the beautiful park with its great lake.
54 bedrooms are well appointed, many of which are feature rooms, four posters and suites.
