The Fox, Grantham

The Fox Inn began life as three cottages on the Great North Road. Rumour has it that Dick Turpin stayed here on his way to York. It is also been said, one of the contestants of the first bare nuckle fight, stayed here at the Fox. It is not known how old The Fox is. It has grown over the years from three old cottages to a pub well known to the travelling public. It was shut down in 1996 for the road widening of the A1, but the government of the day changed their mind, and it was left to deteriorate. After sometime The Fox was put up for sale and brought by a developer. It took two years to refurbish to get the Fox what it is today.

It was brought by the Robbins family in July 2000, The Fox now has nine letting rooms, a forty seater restaurant, two bars, and a large function room. The Fox is situated near Stanford, which is an old market town with many old buildings and churches. Rutland water is very close by, with lovely views and wildlife. The Fox Inn is the ideal place to stay if you want to visit this great area of interest.
